Introductions to our sewing machine family, Part 3

Wow,.. a third part?

A lot of things have changed since the last post.

In the beginning of August, the 290C was relocated to somewhere it will get used.

In October, the Kenmore found a home where it’s going to teach a little girl to sew.

The same weekend in October, Archie went to a nice lady who tends to throw herself into the things she tries out… sound familiar?  I know.  That’s why it seemed a good match.

And earlier this week, Midge went to a good home.  A quilting home.  She was by far the hardest to part with.  I don’t know what it is about a featherweight, but you seem to bond with them immediately and permanently.

Parts one and two covered the first 9 machines in our collection, and 4 of them have been given new homes.

That sounds like we should have only a handful of machines left right?

Well, not so much.  By my count, we’re at 18 right now (plus the spare 99- which I just know Ryan is going to insist means there are 19 machines, but it’s legitimately in the local buy and sell, so I say it’s 18. :P).

Seems I’ve been a little remiss on updating you all.

Number 10, I blogged about a while ago, that’s the 1948 15-90 Centennial

Number 11, is the Elna Supermatic

Number 12 and 13 are the twins.  Jelly Bean, and the “Spare” 99s.

Number 14 was the 503 I picked up at an estate sale.

By my count, that means you haven’t seen any of these yet:

Winselmann hand crank, 07/27/2012

Singer 99,  8/17/2012 – A rescue.  I know it.

Singer 128 knee bar,  8/18/12 – Road Trip!!

Singer 28 hand crank, 8/18/12 – Cool! A twofer!!

Singer 221 (featherweight), 8/25/12 – The ad said “Small sewing machine”

Singer 401A 9/20/12 – Drove all the way to Sylvan Lake for this one, been looking for one of these for a while.

Singer 201-3, 9/20/12 – Bought this one on a dark side street in Red Deer, Alberta on a Thursday night

Singer 411G,  10/23/2012 – I’ve been making lots of fun discoveries about this machine.

Singer 115, 10/23/2012 – This machine is to be a restoration project.  I haven’t decided how big yet, but it requires some work.  You’ll see.

Looks like I’ve got some work to do introducing you all to the latest additions to our family.

Stay tuned.  I’ve set aside lots of time in the next couple of days to make proper introductions.
